Afghanistan: a short comment
  • Taliban' attack in Kabul
    Taliban' attack in Kabul
Four attacks in a week: the last two, the ambulance bomb that left one hundred dead on the ground and this morning's suicide bombing at a military academy, both in Kabul, were claimed by the Taliban while the first two, all 'Intercontinetal and a branch of Save the Children, by the Islamic State. Attacks followed by a resumption of American bombing with the drone made on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan but, above all, to the new measures taken, or announced, by Trump regarding Afghanistan and Pakistan. That continues to deny any responsibility even if remote in the attacks and officially calls on Afghanistan to draw up a 'credible' road map to start a peace process: where credible means obviously a project that conforms to the wishes and aspirations of Islamabad and his army. Trump and Tillerson condemn the attacks by asking all nations to fight the Taliban and reiterating the American will not to `leave the bearded jihadi unpunished`, while Pakistan continues to reiterate that `it is useless` to always blame Islamabad after every attack. It will be, but Majeed Qarar, cultural attaché of the Afghan Embassy in the US tweeted after the attack this morning: `The infrared lenses found at the Taliban that attacked the ANA base were military (not for sale to the public) purchased by the Pakistani army from a British company and supplied to Lashkar-i-Toiba in Kashmir and the Taliban in Afghanistan. Lashkar-i-Toiba is an international terrorist organization `.
